Screening for Diabetic Retinopathy in Europe – Strategies for Overcoming Hurdles to Progress

National Representatives Meeting. Gdansk.
Friday 13th May 2011

Conference organising committee:
Simon Harding, Deborah Broadbent, Ken Swa, Elzbieta Bandurska-Stankiewicz

The 2008 meeting in Amsterdam demonstrated that significant progress has been made in most countries but significant barriers remain. This half day conference , which was satellite to the EASDec meeting, reviewed these with the aim of developing strategies to make progress in countries in which there has been no or limited progress. National delegates presented their further progress and there were a series of workshops and debates focussing on issues such as engagement with private health providers, making systematic screening more affordable, and expansion of local programmes.
